It’s not every day that entrepreneurs around the world target San Ramon and the Tri-Valley as a destination, but in the last two months, there is hard evidence they did. In May, BRIIA – the first Bay Area integrated data innovation accelerator and collaborative community – let the world know that we were ready to welcome our first cohort of companies into our Fall 2017 Accelerator Program. And the world took notice.
When we closed our applications window last Friday (7/14), we were staring at applications from all over the world – China, India, South Africa, Argentina, Ukraine and across California and the USA. In fact, around 80% of the applications we received were from outside the Tri-Valley. It is truly amazing how global entrepreneurship has become!
Under the wonderful leadership of Melissa Ross, we are now deep into the vetting process of the applicants. We are digging into each company’s story and looking for the companies that could become new category leaders. We’ve already discovered a few that stand out from the rest and are confident that we’ll have a robust cohort of 3 to 5 high-quality companies for the Program starting September 18.
We’ll be announcing our cohort companies in late August. Stay tuned!
